How do I tell if my hambster is overweight?

overweight
Rick Shaw asked:

He looks a lot heavier than my other hambsters. Is he overweight or is he just big-boned?

can you include a picture

I have 2 dwarf hamsters, and both are extremely overweight…i believe the average dwarf hamster weighs about .75 ounces…and i weighed my today and they each weighed about 2.75 ounces.

so if you can show us a pic, we might be able to help a little bit more

He could be overweight, or he could just be bigger than your other hamsters. Just make sure you are feeding him a healthy diet and try to encourage him to exercise. Find a safe area (such as a play pen) where he can come out and run around for a while.

he may be overweight. make sure you don’t overfeed them. when they are overweight and exert themselves, they could possibly get a hernia…ouch. good luck though!

most likely he is over weight. but he might be like my hamster and just be really lazy.
