Hi everyone, I am asking this question for a friend of mine. He is overweight and smokes and he heard that if you are overweight and smoke then you can’t have children, is this true for a man, could he not father a child?
He can still father a child i dont think it will affect him TONS but it can change things a little. Also smokers children are at higher risks of SIDS so if he does he should quit smoking
Any man that can get an erection and has working testicles can father a child! 
Smoking may make it more difficult but I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t.
My fiance is a big guy and seemed to have no problem making a baby when he was with his ex. of coarse he doesn’t smoke…
smokes what? if he smokes weed then it kills a certain amount of his little swimmers. Cigarettes? I dont know if that would necessarily make him infertile because i have plenty of family members that smoke and are overweight but have plenty of kids! I think it depends on your partner and you sperm count mainly. So I think that his chances are good! Tell him to go get a sperm count!

Smoking and being overweight does lower your count slightly, but providing he had a normal count before he should have no problem.
If smoking and being fat made you sterile.. this country would be on the verge of extinction.

As long as he’s able to have sex, he can father children. If it turns out he has a fertility problem, it wouldn’t be related to weight or smoking.

It could make it less likely but he probably can still father a child.
Its more difficult if the mother is overweight and smokes I think? Either way it does effect your fertility but doesn’t necessarily make it impossible.
