one thing did help me and it was counting protein .
as far as doing cardio goes i wouldt advice anyone to run or do anything for a long time that means its not challenging their body and it can really wear on the hardware (the body)

TheRogueMonk  on January 23rd, 2010

hey its me again steve
I SO AGREE.
people might burnout their “traning happyness” as i call it when doing too hard workouts while i myself found out this IS NOT smart!
doing smaller ammount of cardio more frequently IS a better choice!
that is what i am doing today!
then you can gradually up the intencity as you become better and more available mentally and physically!
Good luck people. to me too.

Check your body fat %. Most gyms will have some sort of test.

Thx Steve ur a great motivator! I’m 5’4 was 263 lbs now I’m 255 lbs yea I lost 8 lbs. I been seeing ur videos and they are awsome. Thank you for teaching and sharing. I love my body!

Atlantabootcamp,…you are correct! Big time correct. Calorie counting is for the birds. The scale and waist measurement tell the real story. If they’re not dropping, then you’re not losing fat no matter how many calories you count or think you’re consuming; and who could live long with that anyway. Long duration cardio….also long gone. Intervals are the way to go!!!! I also believe HIT lifting is the best as well. Low volume, few sets, few days, lots of rest, compound movements.

Long durations of cardio watching Tv and while doing cardio? Calorie counting? Are you kidding me? Wow there’s way to much information that surpassed all of that madness. Get your butt out and work doing interval training and clean up what it is you’re eating. Counting calories….so does this mean those 100 calories oreo snacks are good? it’s 100 calories? Counting calories aren’t the way to go and that’s not a lifestyle you can live!

just so you know, steve said the BMi thing is totall bull. he said that because it doesn’t take into account your muscle mass

mattPSP  on February 9th, 2010

you gotta find out what your BMi is find out what your height and weight is then go on a site that will tell your BMi.

I hate to be general but it does depend on how old you are and how much you weigh. But looking in the mirror is sometimes the best indicator. Listen to my seminar on my main page. It’s Free!

I find it difficult and boring to be staring at a wall or just listening to music while doing my 40 min cardio, so what I do nowadays is to put a DVD of a serie that I like, for example: Desperate Housewives, Gilmore girls and watch a whole episode which is approx 42 min duration. Results: I don’t get bored and time flies! I am doing this for some time now and I think this has been helpful! Thanks for your videos Steve!

BodyPerformanceTV  on February 19th, 2010

Your cardio is fine BUT you’ll need to cut your calorie intake for weight loss to occur more efficiently and quickly. Cut your meal sizes by 1/3. This help immensely.

Harrypop72  on February 22nd, 2010

hi,

i am heavy and do cardio 5-6 times a week for 40-60 minutes every day. i cant take out time for short 10-15 minutes excercises as my Job does not permit me. any reccomendations?

BodyPerformanceTV  on February 24th, 2010

Jason thank you much for your compliments. I too have a background in biology & chemistry so thinking like a scientist definitely helps. I’m sick of the misinformation put out by companies & idiots that many times I have to remind myself to smile during my videos! I’m relaunching my site at the start of April. I’m going to start charging $20/month for unlimited audio answers to questions. When this hapens i will no longer be answering questions on You Tube. Please tell your friends!

Hi Steve,

I was a Bio Major/psych minor in college. I would like to thank you twice:

First as a biologist I want to say thanks for the clearest most concise, most accurate information that none of us paid a cent for. We all owe you! Write a book i can buy or something!

Second, as a psychologist thank you for your “cut the crap” attitude. Your polite and respectful but with zero tolerance for laziness – I love it. As long as you’re around, I’m going to listen.

Steve – I just came upon your videos…information is excellent and your no-nonsense style is great! Keep up the good work.

konedogg3  on March 2nd, 2010

thanks u r the best.

maldiven  on March 2nd, 2010

Great work Steve! Hats off to you

BodyPerformanceTV  on March 4th, 2010

Yes, you can do it. REMEMBER, the results are cumulative. It doesn’t happen in one day. It’s DAY AFTER DAY!!! Just don’t quite. ~Steve

megster266  on March 6th, 2010

YAY! this is the EXACT information i was looking for!!! doing cardio for 30-40 min straight when i am 5’4″ at 178 lbs is impossible for me in my current state. hearing you say that it is possible to still have results even if the workouts are shorter makes it seem like getting in shape is not just for those who already have normal bods.
